How to Use PDF Security in 3 Steps
- 1 Step 1 Upload one PDF file in the security panel.
- 2 Step 2 Choose Lock, Unlock, or Redact in Step 2. For Unlock, the password field is optional and tried only if needed. For Redact, draw rectangles on the pages you want to clean permanently.
- 3 Step 3 Run the action, then download the updated PDF.
Answers before you run the job
Is it safe to use PDF security here?
Yes. Lock, unlock, and redact run in your browser worker with local processing. These flows are designed to avoid forwarding PDF bytes to cloud endpoints.
Does the security tool upload my PDF?
No cloud upload is required. Lock, unlock, and redact are processed in-browser and are not proxied to the cloud control plane.
Which security actions are available?
Lock, Unlock, and Redact are available now. All three run browser-local.
Will the security action change document content?
Lock adds PDF password protection. Unlock removes PDF password protection when the document can be decrypted successfully. Redact permanently removes text, images, and touched line art from the saved PDF instead of just drawing an overlay.
Does PDF security work on mobile?
Yes, the page works in modern mobile browsers. Desktop is usually more comfortable for page-by-page redaction editing, dragging rectangles, and downloading the final PDF.
